scary episode

This weekend with Gavin was a scary one for us. He hadn't been himself for about 2 days and Friday was running a fever. The closer it got to bed time the worse he felt and was crying, grabbing his right ear. I called the peditrician on call and finally 2 hours later (and 3 more calls to page her!) she called back to prescribe numbing ear drops until he could be seen. Well, it was a night of him waking every 2 hours...by morning we had discovered the scary part for us. His right ear was bleeding! OMG, Josh and I both thought this is horrible; how could this have happened? Thinking we had to rush off to the ER, we called my brother in law (who is a doctor ;o). Thankfully it was a really bad ear infection, and so bad it had ruptured (causing the bleeding). Gavin is now doing so much better thanks to antibiotics...and some extra hugs and kisses, of course.
